IHDFNJ is currently in the first phase of what is planned as a comprehensive partnership with the 13th Ave/Dr. MLK Jr. School in the West Ward of Newark.

Working alongside and in support of the school’s administration and current community partners, IHDFNJ’s goal is to identify and understand the needs of 13th Ave students and their families so that we may contribute long-term social and academic support. Jersey Cares will provide volunteers and  L.E.A.P. Fellows to assist with select projects. Harlan Stone, a member of the national “I Have A Dream” Foundation’s Board, has provided expert guidance and materials support for some of our 13th Ave projects.

Our work with 13th Ave. is a continuation of our work in Newark and is part of our path toward expanding beyond the City.  We are excited and look forward to cultivating our relationship with the 13th Ave school community and its other partners
