MLK Performance 2026

On February 2, IHDFNJ honored the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. through a vibrant program filled with songwriting, singing, dancing, and student presentations.

Our youngest students, from preschool through first grade, delighted the audience with their performance of “Black History Month for Kids” by Educastle. Their joyful energy set the tone for a meaningful celebration.

The second grade class took a creative approach by using the alphabet to share and convey Dr. King’s message of equality, kindness, and justice. Each letter highlighted an important value that continues to inspire us today.

Students in the third grade brought rhythm and originality to the stage by reimagining the theme song from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. They wrote and performed their own rap, connecting Dr. King’s message to modern expression in a fun and engaging way.

Our fourth and fifth graders concluded the program with a thoughtful presentation on Dr. King’s life and legacy. They highlighted key events and reflected on the lasting impact of his work.

This special event showcased not only our students’ creativity but also their understanding of Dr. King’s message. Through their performances, they reminded us all of the importance of unity, respect, and continuing the work he began.
