Rutgers Dental Workshop
On January 23, IHDFNJ welcomed Rutgers Newark’s American Association for Women Dentists to our school for an engaging and informative dental workshop with our Dreamer Scholars.
During the visit, scholars learned about the importance of maintaining good oral hygiene, including brushing their teeth twice a day and flossing regularly. The presenters also shared helpful guidance on foods to limit in order to protect dental health, giving students practical knowledge they can apply every day.
The workshop concluded on a generous note, with each Dreamer Scholar receiving a free toothbrush and toothpaste to support their healthy habits at home.
Dr. Giacona also introduced a new initiative, the Bright Futures Dental Program. This program aims to expand access to dental care for schoolchildren by offering services such as screening exams, cleanings, fluoride treatments, and dental sealants.
We are grateful for this meaningful partnership and look forward to continuing our conversations with Dr. Giacona as we explore opportunities to support the health and well-being of our scholars.
