Dreamers Explore Sustainability Through Verizon’s STEM Next Challenge

IHDFNJ scholars continued expanding their learning through Verizon’s STEM Next Challenge, participating in the Nature & Sustainability Learning Journey.

The program introduced scholars to important environmental topics, including the harmful effects of pollution and the ways individuals and communities can help protect the planet through recycling, composting, and responsible waste management.

The learning journey also encouraged scholars to think more deeply about pollution in our waterways and the impact that human consumption and waste disposal can have on aquatic ecosystems.

By connecting STEM learning with real world environmental challenges, the experience encouraged Dreamers to become thoughtful problem solvers and develop a greater understanding of their role in creating a healthier and more sustainable future.
